Bike ride to Mailly le Chateau

All the motorbiking crowd left for their first ride out this morning, so I took a sneeky picture of their kitchen/dining area.

Morning activity again to avoid the heat later in the day.  This time on the bikes along the canal to Mailly le Chateau - as seen from across the valley yesterday.  Watched a beautiful boat through one of the locks.  Up front there, is shiny wooden furniture with table and chairs for 5, 5 bikes, plants and a hot tub!  The two chaps on board are crew so we think it must be a small hotel boat, but with no guests at present.

Elevensies at the picnic tables by the canal beneath the chateau.

Two heads are better than one - puncture in John's tyre!

A restful afternoon then a meal in the campsite restaurant cooked by our friendly chef, Zak.

Won't show all our meals, but we each had different starters, mains and desserts to see what the chef is doing these days!  This was my main course - plateau de fruits de mer.  that's sweet potato mash in the centre and 3 carrots on the left. Was really lovely.

Not cheap nowadays, but we are doing our own catering most days.....
Desserts were good too - mine is an elderflower and apple cake (in a flower pot) with raspberry candyfloss!

A great finale for our 4 day stay in Merry sur Yonne.  Tomorrow to pastures new......
