Chateau de Chaumont-sur-Loire
This morning we drove the short way from Les Montils along the Loire to Chateau de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Parking was easier than we'd imagined, then walked uphill towards the chateau.
Looking back down to the River Loire
The inside wasn't one of the most interesting to us and many of the art features were a little strange.
The dining room set for dinner was attractive.
The library had a fire in 1947 and they've tried to make it look like it would have been by making books out of glass - we think, but maybe they are plastic. Don't know because we couldn't touch!!
The gardens were beautiful, with lots of whites, pinks and purples.
The Festival Garden was cool and shady with more arty features, but we were getting tired on our feet by this time and decided to leave. We realise that this part of the gardens is open from 10-midnight with son et lumiere so would be very attractive then,
And an even laster last look from across the river as we drove towards Ambois and then north to our next stop at Fresnay-sur-Sarthe.
Exploring our new surroundings tomorrow and staying another night.
