Exploring Fresnay-sur-Sarthe

What a beautiful place this is!  We had a glimpse of the river as we drove over the little bridge when we arrived yesterday, but this morning we discovered the medieval town up on the cliffs overlooking it.

Walking over the bridge towards the town.

Some really interesting buildings on the way up.
The original gateway to the town.

We wandered around the narrow streets looking for somewhere to eat lunch.... on one of the corners, we came across a Thai Restaurant - seemed unusual in the back of beyond, but we decided to give it a go...

John had the curry.  Looks like John had beer to drink and I had handwash!

Graham had duck and I had chicken.  Very tasty, but not quite up to the standard of Horsham's Little Apple.
A cool church to spend some moments in.
Then the amazing views from the park behind the towers.

Two boys beneath the towers!
Then down over the footbridge looking back to the road bridge, old mill and weir.
This is to remind us of the name of the lovely campsite.  Worth a re-visit.
Easpecially as it has a pool.

John having a tidy-up as we are moving on again tomorrow.
Graham's already has his tidy-up!!
Evening stroll by the river behind our pitches, watching a family of Canada Geese.

  1. That looks a very pretty spot, and certainly worth going back to the campsite for that pool! Weather is more unpredictable here now, we've had enough rain to fill the water butts but still some hot days.
We were sad to wave goodbye to the Cornish family last Thursday but enjoyed a couple of days in Cwmbran over the weekend, celebrating the 40th wedding anniversary of our good friends Graham and Karen. Their family has increased since we last saw them, we met new grandchild Nova, and great -neice Ffion, both delightful little people! Now looking forward to the joint service at St Andrew's tomorrow and a Prom concert in the evening.
Have fun and keep on blogging!
