Camping de la Plage, Fermanville (E of Cherbourg)
The weather seems to have a pattern these last few days - dull in the morning, then sunshine all afternoon with possible rain in the evening. ie. last evening's storm and a shower around 5.30 today. But the important time to us has been the afternoons, for a walk in the various places we are visiting. We arrived at our campsite on the north coast of the Cherbourg peninsular just before the reception closed for lunch at 12! We'd have had to wait till 2.30 to get in otherwise. The French always stop for a long lunch!
We are just 5 minutes walk from this beautiful coastline with empty sandy beaches and rocky outcrops. Today we walked east on the coast path.
Stopped here for a quick geocache.
Back at 'our' beach, I had my customary paddle - and ended up with wet trousers! Well worth it though.
Don't usually see a family of swans on the sea.
We think this campsite was originally a municipal site. These are disappearing all over France and are sometimes taken over by private owners. This is now run by a family and although they have updated the toilet facilities, all the pitches are rather small - originally designed for small tents. These days everyone has something much bigger! We are very pleased that our tree has a knitted coat - it's much chillier this evening.

The beaches and sea views look beautiful, not an area of France we know at all, but clearly worth a visit!
ReplyDeleteWe are in Munich, which seems very hot to us, but the Germans have decided that autumn has arrived! They are all in jeans, long- sleeved shirts and some were wearing jackets and scarves this morning!
We've walked a lot today, first down to the old town where we stood outside the New Town Hall and watched the Glockenspiel chiming clock at midday. Then onto the English garden, a vast park with Riverside paths, where lots of swimming and sunbathing was going on. Not by us of course, we found a shady spot to eat our lunch. In the afternoon, we took a city bus tour to give our feet a break! On to Salzburg tomorrow, and we are looking forward to seeing the mountains again! Hope your weather keeps dry.xx
